University League Tables

CIHE’s Chief Executive, Richard Brown, gives his views on the use (and misuse) of league tables.

Pity poor Ian Watmore the Permanent Secretary of the Department for Innovation Universities and Skills (DIUS). He made a not unreasonable joke at a recent meeting of the Council for Industry and Higher Education (CIHE) about his Department only having been around for a few months yet already there were four universities in the top ten.
