Sir John Parker, Anglo American

Sir John Parker became the non-executive chairman of Anglo American plc on the 1 August 2009. He succeeded Sir Mark Moody-Stuart as chairman and is also chairman of the Nomination Committee and a member of the Safety and Sustainable Development (S&SD) Committee. He is chairman of National Grid plc, a non executive director of Carnival Corporation, EADS and deputy chairman of DP World.  He is a former joint chairman of the Mondi Group and recently stepped down as senior non-executive director (Chair) of the Court of the Bank of England.  Sir John is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, Chancellor of the University of Southampton and a Visiting Fellow of the university of Oxford. He is a recipient of honorary doctorates from a number of universities in the UK and Ireland. Sir John was re-elected to the board in April 2010.
