Professor Quintin McKellar CBE, University of Hertfordshire
Professor McKellar graduated in Veterinary Medicine and Surgery from the University of Glasgow in 1981. He also has a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Parasitology and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM Hons) in Veterinary Pharmacology from the University of Glasgow. He was the Scientific Director and Chief Executive of the Moredun Research Institute, which specialises in animal disease research, between 1997 and 2004. He was then appointed Principal of the Royal Veterinary College of the University of London. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Biology, The Royal Agricultural Societies, The Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufacturers and commerce, and The Royal Society of Edinburgh.
He has been a member of the Biological and biotechnological Research Council, the Government’s Veterinary Products Committee, Special Advisory Committee on Antimicrobial Resistance, Regulatory Agency Strategy Board and is Chairman of its Scientific Advisory Committee on Bovine Tuberculosis.
Professor McKellar was appointed Vice-Chancellor of the University of Hertfordshire in 2011 and in the same year appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE).
